What Is Ceramic Coating And Is It Worth It?
Mar 29, 2023
I’ve recently had a lot of people ask me what a ‘ceramic coating’ is and how it works.
Now, if you're a car owner, that’s somewhat interested in looking after your car, you've likely heard the term ceramic coating as well. But maybe you’re not quite sure what it is or how exactly it works.
Allow me to explain - 🚗
Ceramic coating is a high-performance coating that provides a layer of protection for your car's exterior.
It's a popular choice for car enthusiasts and professional detailers alike. In this article, we'll explore how it works and the benefits of a ceramic coating for your car and why you might want to consider it for your vehicle. I also teach this in my course Detail Like a Pro.📣
First and foremost, ceramic coatings work by creating a protective layer over your car's paint. The coating is made up of tiny ceramic particles that bond to the surface of your car's paint, forming a durable and long-lasting layer of protection.
When the coating is applied, it forms a chemical bond with the paint, creating a protective layer that is resistant to water, dirt, and other contaminants.
This is because the ceramic coating has hydrophobic properties, meaning that it repels water and prevents it from adhering to the surface of the paint. 💧
Ceramic coatings have a high melting point
The ceramic coating also has a high melting point, which means that it can withstand high temperatures without degrading or breaking down. This is important because it means that the coating can provide protection against the damaging effects of UV rays, which can cause fading and damage to your car's paint over time.🌞
Another key feature of ceramic coatings is their scratch resistance. While no coating can completely prevent scratches or swirl marks, ceramic coatings can help to minimise the damage. This is because the coating is hard and durable, which makes it more difficult for scratches to penetrate the surface of the paint.
Another benefit of ceramic coating is its durability. Unlike traditional waxing or sealants, which typically last only a few months, ceramic coatings can last for several years with proper care. This means that you won't have to worry about reapplying the coating frequently, saving you time and money in the long run.
High level of gloss
Ceramic coatings also provide a high level of gloss and shine to your car's paint. This is because the coating creates a smooth, reflective surface that enhances your car's paint's natural colour and depth.
This gives your car a showroom-worthy shine that will turn heads wherever you go.
In conclusion, a ceramic coating is an excellent investment for any car owner looking to protect and enhance their vehicle's appearance. It provides a high level of protection against contaminants, UV rays, scratches, and swirl marks while providing a beautiful shine and gloss to your car's paint. While it may be a bit more expensive than traditional waxes or sealants, the benefits of ceramic coatings make it well worth the investment.
If you're interested in ceramic coating for your car, be sure to consult with a professional detailer to ensure that the coating is applied correctly and to get the most out of its benefits.
As always happy detailing 😊
